I'm re-reading my silly little blog from back in the day. It's so strange and revealing to read the shift in how I wrote the first year (I love tapas! I love the sunshine! Spain is amazing!) to the second year and the third, when my mindset shifted to long-term. My blog morphed from an eyewitness account to more of a how-to after that, once it gained traction.
I am so glad, though, that I have a written account of what life was like in the late 2000s for a twenty-two year old in Spain, before social media and reddit threads. We did a great job figuring it all out back then!
You've described something so common in the clients I speak with - and to be honest, in my own experience. My English now has the same rhythm, intonation, and musicality of my Spanish. They've invaded one another!
Most days, it's fun being in-between. Other days, it's disorienting...

That part: "from an eye witness account to a how-to" is such a poignant way to describe how the long-term expats I speak to feel.
Also, as one of my favorite bloggers from that era when I landed in Spain, I can honestly say you were a lifeline for me!
The best part of that blog is how many great people I met as a result!
Were two emojis together ever so accurate?!
